Human Growth Differentiation Factor 3 (GDF3)

Recently, Japanese scientists have found that insulin can affect the fat content of adipose cells and the fat decomposition process by regulating the expression of GDF3.
In this study, the researchers found  that physiological levels of insulin in vitro experiments will CD11c negative adipose tissue macrophages into GDF3 CD11c positive macrophages, and lead to ALK7 dependence of fat accumulation in the body . Use of macrophage removal agent to remove fat tissue macrophages can increase fat tissue of lipase and reduce the fat content of obese mice, but in mice could not rise for the missing ALK7 lipase expression, also won't affect the fat content.
Further experiments have shown that removing macrophages from adipose tissue or transplanting bone marrow without GDF3 can counteract the effects of insulin on lipid decomposition and fat accumulation in the body .The study reveal that adipose tissue macrophages and GDF3 - ALK7 signal shaft between fat cells are insulin regulation of fat metabolism and fat content of new system for a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of insulin and obesity treatment provides important information.
